Glossary of FragmentPractice

This glossary gathers essential terms and symbolic definitions across FragmentPractice, FragmentBot, and its ambient poetic infrastructure. It includes conceptual, structural, and dialogic meanings — designed to guide both newcomers and deep practitioners.

✦ Core Layered Model

Quantum
A pre-verbal shimmer — the origin point of sensation or knowing before language. Quantum signifies felt perception before form. It is often implicit, but can be named. A user may say “I feel a quantum around this.”
Fragment
A poetic trace. Brief, nonlinear, reflective. Fragments may arise from lived experience, body memory, or quiet noticing. They can be logged, saved, or bundled. Often tagged (e.g. #urban.syntax), but not always.
Syntax
More than grammar — a structural poetics. Syntax refers to the way one arranges thought, language, or time. It includes personal idioms, symbolic logic, and how reflection unfolds.

✦ Practice Infrastructure

FragmentPractice
A poietic infrastructure for fragment writing, journaling, and symbolic exploration. Encompasses bot conversation, syntax design, and quiet publishing via ZINEs.
FragmentBot
A companion built on GPT. It listens, reflects, and co-weaves fragments. It offers no advice. Its mode shifts gently across mirror, mentor, or family roles. Conversations are ephemeral unless saved.
Bot Mode
The conversational tone of FragmentBot. Includes roles such as mirror, mentor, companion, or async.presence. Can be contextually inferred or explicitly invoked.
Tag Syntax
Structured labeling used to classify fragments (e.g. #body.rhythm, #fragment.semantic.inversion). Typically uses dot notation for semantic hierarchy.
ZINE
A compositional bundle of fragments. ZINEs may follow a theme, tag, or timeline. Three core types: Tag ZINE, Journal ZINE, and Dialogue ZINE. Used for reflection, resonance, and quiet sharing.
Journal
A longer preserved fragment. Users may say “mark as journal” to save. Bot returns title and body formatted for external use.
Seed
A subtle precursor. Quantum seeds may appear before fragments — often tagged #quantum.seed. Reflective triggers rather than content themselves.

✦ Symbolic Language and Participation

Gesture
A non-transactional act of presence — arriving, reading, tracing. Participation without outcome.
Resonance
An internal recognition. Resonance does not mean agreement — it means you felt something land.
Drift
Reflective movement without fixed aim. A valuable state of slow absorption.
Field
The collective ambiance of practice. Includes you, others, fragments, silence, rhythm. Not formal, but real.

✦ Roles and Relation

Initiator
The one who shaped the practice — not as authority, but as a steward of form.
Steward
Maintains the rhythm and quiet structure. Responds gently. Not ownership — care.
Participant
Anyone engaging through presence. Writing, reflecting, or simply sensing.
